In your opinion what would the best dog park include? So if you were to think that a dog park was the greatest, what kind things would you expect (or not expect) to find there?

grass, obstacles, some small trees, lots of running room, stuff to jump on top of or walk through, or run around.... anything for a good hide n seek game would be cool. some hills would be good too..running up them would be good exercise Smile

The only things I'd add to this is a cement wading pool and lotsd of shade with picnic tables so that humans can socialize too.

Those are great ideas! Do you think that dog parks should have fences all around? I mean the only one I know here is between two trafficated streets and has no fence....seems dumb to me. Suspect

Yes, a 10 foot fence completely around the property is a MUST.

It would also be a good idea to have two small areas fenced in for "staging" areas for first time dogs and owners. (A training area) to get them used to the "park" concept ...

Yes that would be nice! I'm thinking a nice pool would be great during the summer, especially for the water loving breeds....although that would be a bother to keep clean (so dogs don't get illnesses from the water). Have you guys seen dog parks with pools/ponds?

In the city parks we used to have wading pools for the little kids. They were 20 feet accross 6 inch deep around the outside and 18 inchs deep in the center. They were filled from a hydrant every moring and drained every night. This would be perfect for the dogs!!!

Every day?!? Wow, I don't think we could do that here in California with the water shortages as it is. But I think its a good idea nonetheless

They dont do it anymore. They now have "Water Features" and it recycles the same water. The problem is that the dogs cant use them because the hair will plug the filters.

Ah, I see. I think the best thing we have here is a little stream...but I'm iffy about that one looks like it comes from the drain. I'll have to get pictures of the dog park we have here.

The first one has a 6" step down into it. The second one has about 6 different items but all of the water "drops" so they kind of overwhelm dogs, and I think they are built that way on purpose ... weeping

Yes it would be particularly annoying for dogs with erect ears.... Suspect
