I was just wondering how important do you guys think that good communication and relationship with your vet is. Do you think that if they don't get to know you well that they'll treat you like 'another' customer? Do you guys like your vets?

I like our vet. he is really informative and friendly. our dog likes him as well, as much as he possibly could considering he is a dr and those arent always fun, hehe. he doesnt misbehave there so its nice.

i tihnk it's important to know your vet and for them to know you. veterinarians should know your pet well and what is typical for their behaviors so that they can help you better in case something were to happen and your pet were to get sick.

Thats something I didn't really think about, them already previously knowing your dog so that they can better tell differences. Thanks for bringing it up. Another reason that comes to mind for having a good relationship with your vet is so that you can always feel comfortable asking about things, so that you never hesitate. silent

I had another vet for 24 years, and loved him. He did very well with my dogs, often having to deal with a scared and sick dog that had not been socialized. When he told me he would be retiring, it made me sick with worry, but then he gave me names of several other vets that he said he KNEW I would like. The first one, not so much, but the second one yes. He checks my dogs over thoroughly, listens to what I have to say, throws his opinion out there, and then we decide together what should be done. He gave me his cell phone number a year or so ago, but I've only used it once, when I couldn't get a pharmacy to fill a prescription for pain meds for DeeOhGee. My vet showed up at my door 2 hours later (10:30pm) with the needed medication.

I feel that a good Rapport with my Vet is THE most important thing.

The vet I have been with for the past 15 years is really great. From the first minute I met him I could tell that he had a genuine love for animals. When he walked into the room, he shook my hand and they nelt down to pet Chip. We talked for about 10 minutes and he asked me everything about Chip. From that moment I had untimate trust in his skill and judgement.

The difference between good pet care and great pet care is a vet that loves your pet. A well adjusted pet (and owner) doesnt hurt either. 😉 😉
