Do you guys find it strange for cats to walk on leashes or do tricks like dogs? I mean I don't know much about cats myself but do is it normal for them to do stuff like that? I'm just wondering if anyone here that has cats, if you do stuff like that with them and if not, whether it would be something you'd ever consider.

It's not a common sight, but yes, they do train cats to do alot of the same things. Joel Silverman trained several cats for a couple of movies.

I wonder if much of the same training principles that we use for dogs are used in cats. I'm thinking much would be different because of how the two different specifies evolved and their ancestors.... Confused

I find it quite interesting when i see a cat on a leash, lol....
i had some cats growing up and they were outdoor cats but loved to come inside to hang out and get/give some family love. but we wouldn't ever consider teaching them dog like mannerisms and taking them on walks. lol.

However, my last cat (who still lives with my parents) his name is tiger and he definitely acts like a dog. He has always lived with my parents doberman, but my cat is much older than him. they play together and my cat loves to be in teh sink when the water is running..what a funny cat, lol

Wow a cat that loves water! Thats the first! Its very interesting that you mention that, because I have heard of many cats that act like dogs (sorta), never seen one myself though, I'd sure like to! Cool

my cats do not know tricks and do not walk on leashes...but when we walk back in the fields with the dogs they always come with us. my father in law thinks its strange..but they just like to be with us.
