Saturday morning my daughter found a box of puppies out on a country road near her home. She was able to find homes for 3 of the 6 pups and one died Sunday. She has decided to keep these two. The little boy (short hair) walked with his back arched and groaned every time he moved, and groaned even louder if you picked him up. He seemed disconnected from the world, as if he didn't really see or hear anything going on around him. The little girl (fuzzball) acted like a healthier pup, but also groaned when picked up. You can feel all of their bones. After a vet exam yesterday, they were found to have 4 kinds of worms, which didn't really surprise us. The vet guessed their age to be about 5 weeks.
We don't know what they are, but the girl looks like a Great Pyrenees pup and I think the boy looks like he's got some GSD mixed in there. The boy's prognosis is still fairly guarded, but the girl is starting to do a little better. I hope they make it.

OMG, this still shocks me that someone could just DUMP puppies in the country to die. Im so happy to hear that your daughter found them and was able to help them. Please pass my personal "thanks" to your daughter for looking out for them.

The two sick pups will be in our thoughts & prayers, and please let us know how its going!!!

They go back to the vet on Friday, and hopefully will show some improvement.

Decided to call my daughter and get a first hand update. The fuzzball girl is running and playing with the kids now. The boy is still very weak but is being hand fed and is taking some food in.
All of the pups were ill, but the 3 healthier ones went to friends that would care for them. She got stuck with the sickest 3, one of which is gone now.

And people ask why we get so worked up about amateurs breeding Mad

I can't believe someone would just leave them like that! I'm glad that your daughter found homes for some of them and kept the others. I sure hope the little boy gets better too. Let us know what the next vet visit decides.
