Ok so my husband took the dogs to the park today and after he was gone to work i went to take my dogs out to pee ( i do them all one at a time because 3 is to many to handle at once where i live) anyhoo i can't find the leashes and realize they are probably still in the car oh well whatever my dogs are behaved well trained enough the don't go to far without a leash but i always take them out on a leash it's rare thy aren't out on one. So i pick up my 8 month old shih tzu and bring him outside carry him to the back of the condos to take his peepee and hes happily sniffing around and then wham i hear it.. the door shuts and out comes the lady in the next set of condos with her ridiculously hyper annoying barking beagle who is overweight and i turn and see him dragging his handler across the grass which he has done countless times when he sees me with my dogs BUT my shih tzu is terrified of him so murry turns his little head and sees the action coming and just as he's about to bolt i scoop him up and start walking way like I always do. I always bring him back in the house and and bring him back out when they are gone because he literally pooped himself once when this dog came after him...

so just as I am walking away the woman spits out that my dog needs to be a on a leash ( did i mention I'm not feeling well I've had the same headache for 5 days). I stop and turn around and say I couldn't find them so brought him outside anyway and turn back around to hear her retort well they need to be on a leash... I lost it. I whipped around and said look my (insert bad word) dog is terrified of your dog and always runs away because your (bad word) dog always charges at him and scares the **** out of him. She said Well he still needs to be on a leash it's municipal law..... I said he always is on one but they are in my (curse words) husbands car and hes at work so i took him out maybe you should train your crappy freakin dog to stay and not charge at other dogs! and i marched off before i said anything further.

Like really? wtf am i supposed to do not take my dogs out to pee for 9 hours because the leashes are in the car? Really? It's in the backyard of the condos i live at where my dogs use the wash room all the time. I take good care of my dogs they are well behaved well trained happy animals and i am so sick of people in this neighborhood taking a fit over them. like when we moved in my neighbors below us heard our lab/mix bark ONCE and called the landlord. the landlord to told them to shut it and relax we just moved in the dog was getting used to the new surroundings. so we bought her a citronella bark collar to make sure it would never happen again and kept asking them after that incident if they ever heard anything and they said no and then they got a dog lolol now this ****. ok i feel better now that i got to write that all out.

Oh yeah, a common story for many of us dog owners. We often run into people who turn the other way when their own dogs are acting up but are more than happy to turn a pointing finger at others. It happens its better to leave them be.

However she was right in that leash laws apply, buuuuut.... nuisance laws apply to barking dogs as well so she should not have really said anything.

I always have an extra leash somewhere in the house though, for emergencies like these. You don't need anything fancy but you never know when one might come in handy, you know?

i know the leash law thing but the thing that mad me mad was the fact my shih tzu never tried to run towards her dog he tried to run away from the on coming dog. I would have totally seen her point if he had run towards her. but i always take them out on leashes and when hes on a leash and he sees that dog coming he bolts to run away and obviously chokes himself and falls down. i had to wash poop off his bum because he literally pooped himself once when this dog charged at him and it's sad. my shihtzu is a small fella lol

It sounds like your neighbor is just looking for a fight .... Just do what you have to do, and I know its hard, but ignore her as best you can.
