Hi from the Midwest Vide
PostSubject: Hi from the Midwest   Hi from the Midwest Icon_minitimeThu Nov 12, 2009 6:11 pm

I meant to post here a couple of days ago, but was up at 2:00 am, running on 3 hours of sleep, and I just didn't get it done.

I currently have 3 beautiful shelter Rotties. I've had close to 30 dogs now, over a span of about that same number of years. My home feels very empty right now. I can barely remember a time when I had less than 5 dogs. Anyway, I'll be getting a pup (my first) in December, and then hopefully filling my house back up again next summer.

We enjoy tracking, have dabbled in Rally O, a couple have really gotten into agility, a little bit of canine freestyle, and lure coursing for one in particular who just needs to chase something from time to time. The obedience club we belong to is getting ready to introduce a new sport (for us anyway) next Spring - Flyball! I can hardly wait! I hope my Lib is still able then, as I'm pretty sure she's nearly 10 yrs. old now.

Anyway...the dogs:
oldest (I think) is Lib, short for Liberty. I also think she was reincarnated from a race horse.
Next oldest is Grizz-Bang. He's not made quite right, is likely a Rottie/Mastiff cross, and is a real clutz. He can't run very well, as both hips are bad, even after surgery, and both elbows are bad. But he gives great hugs, loves everyone, so I'm not complaining.
Hannah Grrrl is also older and appears to be a collosal grump, but she's actually very sweet. Just a little noisy.
I also have a 20 yr. old cat who is showing signs of dementia (it's one of us-either her or me)
and a guinea pig that I actually bought as a pet for one of my dogs but he's no longer with us. He died of bone cancer in August, and the guinea pig wants nothing to do with any of the other dogs. So, I'm stuck being his pal for the time being.

I also work a 40-50 hour per week job, in my spare time. Grin

Welcome to the forum =] Glad to see you saved shelter dogs, I always admire when people do that because not only are you getting the love/enjoyment the dog brings but also knowing you saved his/her life.
