have you taught your dogs that are most useful to you? Mine are "out"...as in "remove yourself from where you are". Whether it be the kitchen while we are having dinner, or out of the cow yard or barn when we are cleaning and they are looking for snacks. Sometimes, if its an open area...like the cow yard, I will point and say out..just so they know which way is acceptable to go out of. Wait is another big one for me. Wait at the door, Wait in the driveway, while I get the mail..wait before I put breakfast or dinner down. There are more, but these are the most common used ones here. Becky

I think most of the tricks my dog knows are useful like sitting, paw and so on. But I think the most useful one I taught him was "Kiss" on command. He sits, gives paw and licks you when I say kiss. It is special to me because it was the only trick I ever taught him, he was already trained before and knew the basic commands so when I taught him "kiss" it only took a week and was on my own. So I was very proud. So how is that command useful? Well when I tell him kiss I get him to sit, shake paws and lick me and he is sitting like I wanted, and I get free paw shake and lil love =].

Other than sit, stay and come ... I would have to say that "leave it" and "out" are the most useful for me.

Come or Here are the most important to me. Next would have to be BACK...for those times when multiple dogs follow me into the bathroom and I get stuck at the end of the long narrow room. Wait and Stay are way up there too.

other than the usual ones like "sit,no, stay" "come" or "come here" was quite a challenge for him, not sure why, lol... but he's got it down 90% of the time lol. "out" and "go" has also come to use

Hmm probably "out" is very useful, I use it the same way you do Samm-ban. Then "drop it", "leave it", and "this way" (when we are outside and he is off leash, meaning just change directions and come towards me). *Edit* Ohh wait, I forgot one of my favorite commands. "Place"! I don't have a place board for Spencer right now, but I am gonna get him one soon.

becky Yep! I like this one particular bed that is raised off the ground a couple inches.. It just seems he can figure out the boundaries better that way.

Great topic!! I think that the most useful one for me is "lay", I use it when Junior is near us and we are eating, this way we don't get drool on our pants and he isn't up in our face or anything
