I wish I had known I would be sleeping in sweatpants, socks (with ugly slip-on boots at the foot of the bed) and hoodies for the next few weeks/months. In order to get a puppy who really can't hold it much longer after they detect the need to get outside, one MUST be dressed for the weather even while sleeping! Now I'm wishing I could trade in the fabulous sweater my daughter got me for Christmas for an extra pair of comfy sweats or maybe even some long johns.

Oops thats a consideration that slipped my mind. Hang in there Ann its only a few months before he can stay inside all night. Do you take him out at an exact time of the night?

It's getting much better. I was getting up at 1:00 and 4:00 am to take him out. Now he wakes me up when he needs to go. If I take him right before we go to bed at 10 he's not waking me up until 4 or 5. Just once a night now, and he can hold it until I get my boots on.

It sounds like he's doing very well. In a month or so he should be able to make it thru the night.

Indeed! You just have to remember to take him out before bedtime. Sometimes I don't do that with Junior and he wakes me up at 3 or 4 to take him outside.....BRRRRRRRRRRR

Success!! He's sleeping through the night, and so am I. He goes out at around 10:00 in the evening, right before bed, and I even have time to change clothes and get my coat on before taking him out when we wake up at 4:00!

I gave it a month and it was JUST 11 days .... Give him a big hug (and a HUGE "good boy") from us!!!

*oops missed your response!* But WOW, at 3 months most owners I've seen are pulling their hair our in frustration because of potty training. Thats a real accomplishment, seeing how many pups don't have 100% bladder control till about 6-8 months!

His bladder control is still pretty limited, but he understands the concept. He had two pee accidents at my sons house the few days we were there, and has had 2 more here, but all of those were my own fault for not paying attention and getting him out when he needed to go. I was sick over Christmas and almost to New Years with a flu, and certainly wasn't at my best. He has to go out pretty frequently...about every 3-4 hours during the day.

Thats still pretty darn good As for accidents in other places, not quite sure but I think the novelty of a new environment confuses them a bit, Junior knew he wasn't supposed to go in the house but he did once or twice when we moved
