I've noticed that even though people are dog lovers they may not always want a dog to sleep on their bed with them. So I was curious and thought to ask, where does your dog sleep? Did you train him/her to sleep there or was it something they decided for themselves?

Me personally I don't mind where Junior sleeps. Usually he'll pick a spot on the bed but near the end of it (not up on the pillow.lol). But just as often he likes sleeping on the floor next to my bed.

So how about you guys?

During the day it varries ... But at night, Neka sleeps on the upstairs landing or at the foot of the bed. Patchs likes to sleep on the bed ... usually on her pillow next to me or in the summer she sleeps in front of the window.

Bandit will sometimes sleep on the bed with us for a bit...but then it gets to warm for him, so he goes on his own bed on my husbands side of the bed. SammyJo sleeps on my side of the bed on her own bed. Until my husband gets up for work...if I am lucky enough to get to sleep in the two dogs and the 3 cats all pile on the bed.

I'm not opposed to sharing my pillow with a dog. Lib is a snuggler, Grizz-Bang needs the coolest spot in the house, and Baloo snuggles for awhile, but then sleeps on the floor next to the bed.

Spencer sleeps in his crate that is in my bedroom right now. Sometimes I let him sleep on the bed, but he is a major bed hog!

mine sleeps between us in bed, tries to be as close as possible next to both of us but makes it uncomfortable at times, lol... then other nights he will sleep on our giant bean bag in teh living room. depends on his mood perhaps? lol

just last week, he discovered how awesome it is under the covers. we usually dont let him, but in the mornings when we wake up, we let him go under them and he loves it. when we try to lift them up, he stares at us like" why are you doing that?! you're letting all the warmth out! lol" too funny!

Oh so Junior isn't the only one that will go off the bed when its too hot? Usually in the summers he never gets on the bed, sometimes he may even go to the hall and sleep there... up until someone get up and nearly steps on him! Poor thing.lol.

when its cold lucy sleeps at the back of my knees and snuggles reeeeeal close. when its warm she finds a piece of laminate floor to stretch out on. i dont mind sharing with her and sometimes quite beneficial to have a warm cuddly labrador to snuggle up to. i wont let her sleep near my face though just in case she stretches and scratches me or worse still if i should disturb her sleep and make her jump she could snap with those pearly white teeth of hers and there you go....no nose!!!! just me being careful i guess.

No, I agree, its better to be cautious like that, one time I leaned over to pet Junior on the back and he bit me (not too hard) because I startled him. So yeah better to be safe than sorry!

exactly....we had a case in the paper last year i believe when a woman's dog, forget which breed but only a small one, had ripped her face to shreds. why? because she had rolled on him in the night! not the dog's fault but he was put to sleep anyway!!!! very sad and so easily could have been prevented. we all love our dogs but we still need to be cautious at all times and not put them in a fight or flight situation.

Well the Princess of course sleeps with me, or to be honest I sleep with her. I have a queen size bed and she takes up more room than me. Every night she sits in front of me and makes these weird sounds and I say "ok time for bed" and she grabs her fav toy and runs to the bedroom and plops herself in my spot. I get in and she snuggles me all night. The only prob is that sometimes she gets the worst case of gas and it is always when her rear end is pointed at my head lol. I could not sleep without her so the princess can have the queen bed anytime she wants. Hugs Susan & Lexcee

Wow that is scary Gilly, thats why I'm glad I have a big dog, that way he can just move off the bed, but a small dog being rolled on? Poor thing!


Lol, Lexcee sounds very much like Sheetza, but she sleeps with my sis, not me.lol.
