Do you think that its ok to dress dogs up or do you find it a bit too anthropomorphic? Many would agree that as long as its not uncomfortable for the dog its ok, what are your thoughts on the subject? And if you have ever dressed your pooch what kind of things have you put on him/her?

Many things like doggie coats can be benificial in keeping dogs healthy in cold weather. I aplaud those who protect their dogs from the elements.

I personally dont care to "dress up" my dogs. I have better things to spend my money on ... like food and shelter. But as long as ppl use clothing designed for a dog (and not human baby clothes), then I have no problem with it.

The biggest problem with dressing up a dog can be that some ppl begin to think that the dog is a tiny little human. The dog then begins to suffers from what I call "Doggie Identity Crisis" which often leads to unwanted behaivor.

Oh yes, anthropomorphism, that can definitely be a problem and will often lead some owners to let their dogs get away with bad behaviors.

I definitely think you are right about spending money on clothes though, that is definitely an issue to consider. Some of the 'designer clothes' I've seen on magazines cost $50+!!! Well those who have it spend it.lol. (I'm not one of them Razz)

I put a bandana around Junior's neck though, as long as it doesn't impede with movement and doesn't make a dog ucomfortable I'm OK with it. My final thought is that dogs are great the way they are and don't need all the extra stuff unless they need it for protection from the cold or hot pavements, etc.

In the 2+ years I have had Neka she has worn a bandana on 3 occations. She really doesnt care for them, so after i take a picture, i remove it.

I am currently looking into making a coat for Patchs. She is a "shorthaired" dog and Im concerned about her going outside in sub-zero temp this winter.

Ya around here even though it doesn't snow it gets rather cold so we have to get Sheetza a nice sweater. Junior doesn't really mind the bandanas and its not like he doesn't look "complete" without them, I just think they make for a better picture.lol. However he does look "incomplete" without his collar though, funny how us humans view our dogs:D
