What are some chew things which are safe for puppies? It seems every time I turn around there is another thing which causes blockage. Right now I give her bully sticks but they lasty for five minutes and I have to take it away before it gets too small. I just heard at the vets office about a dog that died because he ate a bone and it totally destroyed his intestines. Any suggestions? I stuff the kong toy. and that doesn't last very long either.

My dogs get deer antlers to chew on. They're not messy and they last a long time.
They occasionally get raw beef bones, but I watch for small pieces that they might break off and throw them away. I never give them cooked bones of any kind. Cooked bones splinter and can tear up the digestive tract.

Any hard rubber toys are great (Kongs etc) I also give Nyla-bone and Busy-bone. As Ann said, A raw beef knuckle is also good but you need to make sure you are able to get it way if it begins to splinter.

I think Mike and Ann covered this one Grin You should note that nothing is really fool-proof so make sure to supervise your pup whenever you give her anything to chew on, the number one reason dogs have accidents with things they can choke on is because the owner wasn't watching them carefully.

I recommend a good toy bone which has anti bad breathe abilities. I think you can buy this at hardware stores or pet stores. It also cleans the teeth and gums.
