Whats one pet you wouldn't consider having and why?

For me its a tarantula....I know some people keep them as pets but because of my arachnophobia I don't think I could sleep well.....

I know you asked for one, but my list has a tie for 1st place ...

Spiders and Snakes

I've kept injured snakes for pets, but only until they could be turned loose again. I don't care for spiders of any kind, but don't want to harm them either.

I hate seeing birds in cages. I've had a few that were given to me by people who tired of them, and I end up letting them fly around the house quite a bit. If I thought they could survive on their own if turned loose outside, I'd have done that.
We take these beautiful creatures than can fly for miles and put them in tiny cages so that we can have something pretty to look at in our homes. I think it's cruel. Can't say I'd never have one, because I have, but I'm a very liberated bird owner and I would never purchase one from a pet store or someone who raised them for money. The last one I had was a little lovebird who came to me with clipped wings. How awful is that? I equate it with someone breaking my kneecaps and sitting me in a wheelchair. My dogs are even accustomed to having birds flying through the house and even landing on them. I'd leave them loose permanently if they weren't such messy little things.

Oh I don't mind snakes so much but the ladies in the family won't hear of it.

Hmm...never really thought of it like that... It absolutely makes sense though, we've only had a few birds ourselves and we also let them fly in the house but like you say....they can be messy

Aw that's too bad.. but common I think. xD I've had a Ball Python, they can be very sweet! hehe

There is no pet I wouldn't consider keeping as long as I had the proper space and knowledge.. I've already gotten over my little fear of crickets and soon I'll have roaches (on purpose!), so if I can get used to them I think I can get used to anything lol!

Yes, its all to common for ladies to not like snakes.lol. I think it would be cool to have one though, never thought about getting a roach... although the big ones from australia look rather interesting :p

Well to be honest I'm not really getting the roaches as pets, I am buying a lot to breed to feed to Saphira. But I do have to handle them and take care of them, so it kinda counts right lol.

Ohh I though you were going to get them for pets.lol. Well that makes sense, hehe yeah I doubt Saphira would eat the Giant Cockaroaches.... I think they might be bigger than her

Lol no worries, I realized I didn't make it very clear. Well maybe not quite that big lol, I measured her the other day and she was 15" head to tail!

Lol yep the pictures of her don't show it very well She is still pretty young too, I am hoping she reaches the max size of 2 feet!

I've always thought that was the weirdest thing... scorpions, centipedes and milipedes as pets.... Especially around here in So Cal which is a desert...you can find them anywhere!

Never, ever would I have a pet spider...YUCK.

Lol well you know, I'd have to agree! For one they are too messy for me, but it doesn't help that the only bird I've had was not as nice as my snake!

I would never consider even for a moment owning any kind of arachnid. I'm not too keen on snakes and lizards either.

Hi five! In my book spiders of all kinds better stay 100 feet from my house.lol.

spiders make my skin crawl...so they are out. i have called my husband in the bathroom while i was in the shower to kill a spider that was in the shower with me. he was like "um...youre in the shower.. ill get rid of it when you are done" and i was like "DO IT NOW". lol

snakes i dont mind though. my husband would prob not allow that one though.

LOL, something similar happened to me...only not in the shower. And the second it was squashed ten million little spiders came out from it ( I guess it was carrying an egg sack or something), so you could have imagined...I nearly jumped to the ceiling!
