Good evening. I need some help. I have a 1 year old black lab with recurrent diarrhea. The diarrhea is brown in color and is literally the consistency of water. It just pours out of her when I take her out. She is housebroken, however, she has been having accidents all over the house now due to this diarrhea. We have had to put her in her crate again and take her outside every hour to relieve herself. She is fed Blue Buffalo dog food, which I was told was excellent, so I don't think it's an issue of food. She has had all shots as well. This latest episode has been going on for about 3 weeks now. She has uncontrollable diarrhea for 3-4 days, then is fine for 4-5 days, then it starts up again. Does anyone know anything about what could be causing this and how to treat it? Thanking you in advance.

You need to take her to her vet. It could be so many things, some quite serious.

I agree. Your best bet is a vet, particularly if this is a reoccuring problem. If it were a one time thing there are food you can give your dog that will firm up their stool, but problems that presist longer are usually more serious and have to be addressed by a professional.

You should bring her to the vet at once. The dehydration might kill your dog. Did you feed the dog any unusual food?

I don't want to frighten you. But don't delay any longer in letting your vet check your dog if the problem is a recurring one and has persisted for so long. If it is not something in her diet, only a vet will be able to figure out what's wrong.

My dogs just got over a round of giardia, given to them by a foster dog from a shelter. This is very serious and needs to be seen t o immediately by a vet, at an emergency clinic if necessary. One of my dogs had to be on iv's for 2 days due to dehydration, but recovered. DO NOT DELAY!!!

I have border collies and Blue Buffalo gave them all diarrhea. It was just too rich for them. He may need some fiber to bulk up what is in the intestinal tract.  Your vet can give you anti-diarrhea pills that include fiber.
